We will learn to create 3 different Materials, and each of them will challenge us in another way, diving into techniques and skills to master the creation of Materials from an Industry Professional!
These tutorials cover Techniques and Workflow that are used in the Production of Game Development while keeping our Materials Procedural and Beautiful.

All materials, videos, and commentary are in real-time so that everyone can follow along. This series is suitable for anyone familiar with Substance Designer. You will have access to all work files at each step, so you can always be sure to finish the series even if complications, such as crashes, arise. This series is created for ease of learning and helps anyone interested in learning the skills of Material Art.


CHAPTER 1: ROUNDED TILES

In our first material, we will learn how to create tilling patterns by breaking them up into individual shapes, using noises for surfaces, masking, and Color Creation for complex materials. We will do all of this by recreating a Terra Cotta Tile Material following these steps:


  • Analysis and Creation of Un-Usual Tile Patterns.
  • Surface Details that tell a story and how to apply them.
  • Breaking up Repetition in Tile Materials.
  • Advanced masking for Detail Creation.
  • High Detail Base Color Workflow.
  • Basics and Creation of Roughness Maps.


CHAPTER 2: OLD WOOD FLOOR

In the second part of the course, we will concentrate on organic shapes and the use of generators to create high-quality surface details, to take our material to the next level while we build a new pattern for Wood Floors. This section will be super useful for anyone looking to elevate their Wood Floor creation skills by following these steps:

  • Creating Procedural Floor Patterns.
  • Edge Sculpting for shapes.
  • Building our own Wood Generator.
  • Breaking Repetition in Surface Noises.
  • Using Generators to create old details.



CHAPTER 3: CONCRETE WALL PATTERN

In the second part of the course, we will concentrate on organic shapes and the use of generators to create high-quality surface details, to take our material to the next level while we build a new pattern for Wood Floors. This section will be super useful for anyone looking to elevate their Wood Floor creation skills by following these steps:

  • Creating Unique Patterns.
  • Control of Subtle Details.
  • Creation of Organic Maps.
  • Height Control for Big Displacements.
